SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) – Sophomore Troy Murphy scored 19 points to lead Notre Dame to a 65-42 win Wednesday over Valparaiso.

Murphy scored 17 of his points in the second half as the Irish (4-4) broke a four-game losing streak.

Lubos Barton’s 14 points led the Crusaders (2-5), who have now lost five straight.

Notre Dame shot 45 percent from the field while holding Valparaiso to 32 percent.

Murphy began the second half with a three-point play and an assist, then sparked a 31-8 Irish run with a dunk.

Matt Carroll added 13 and David Graves 11 for the Irish.
