NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Following a win and tie with a shootout win at Penn State, the Fighting Irish hockey team returns to No. 1 in both the USCHO.com and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls on Monday afternoon (Feb. 5).

The Irish (21-5-2, 15-2-1-1 B1G) are also currently No. 1 in the Pairwise rankings.

It marks the fifth week this season Notre Dame has been ranked No. 1 in at least one of the polls. The Irish received 36 of a possible 50 first place votes in the USCHO.com poll and 26 of a possible 34 first place votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.

This season’s number one ranking marks the seventh time in program history the Irish have been ranked No. 1 for at least one week during a season.

With three points this weekend, the Fighting Irish would clinch the Big Ten regular season championship (a win is worth three points in the Big Ten standings, a tie is worth one point and the shootout victor also receives an extra point).
