OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — The Notre Dame rowing team, in its second year of competition, placed six of seven boats into the finals of the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship Regatta in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

The pairs team of sophomore Tara Driscoll and freshman Erin Shea placed sixth in the Saturday’s finals of the varsity pairs race.

Also qualifying for the finals were the Varsity 4 (Sandra Peterson, Mary Lampe, Cassandra Stuart, Kolleen Myers, and Cassie Markstahler), JV 8 “B” (Leah Ashe, Joslyn Moreau, Allison Bartsh, Emily Deye, Elizabeth Nerney, Maureen Carr, Kerri Murphy, Megan Feely, and Erin Kiernicki), Novice 8 (Erica Drennen, Beth Fruzynski, Beth Jeub, Julia Kelly, Casey Buckstaff, Becky Luckett, Ashlee Warren, Ann Marie Dillhoff, and Kassie Murphy), Novice 8 “B” (Sarah Dreznes, Becky Campbell, Kathryn Anderson, Megan McPherson, Ann Gurucharri, Laura Aull, Katie McCalden, Andrea Amoni, and Pam Swan), and the Novice 4 (Kelly Malloy, Jessica Manske, Kelly Mahaney, Melissa Slavin, and Cynthia Lee).

The Varsity 8 team (Katie Besson, Katherine Burnett, Amy Braun, Lauren Lyons, Katrina Ten Eyck, Kristin Vandehey, Courtney Mercer, Michelle Olsgard, and Claire Bula) just missed making the finals as they were edged out to the top seeded North Carolina Tar Heels by 1.4 seconds in the semifinals.

All finals will be rowed tomorrow.
