Irish Qualify for Nine Seed in ACC Tournament

GREENSBORO, N.C. – After finishing the regular season last Wednesday evening at home against DePaul, the University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team has earned the nine seed in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament his week in Rome, Georgia. The Irish, ranked 34th by ITA, finished the regular season 16-11 and 5-8 in conference play.

Notre Dame will matchup with the eighth-seeded and 31st-ranked Florida State Seminoles at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. The two teams met earlier this season at Eck Tennis Pavilion with the Irish falling by a 4-2 margin. Florida State took the top two doubles flights for the first point before Notre Dame rallied for wins at No. 2 and No. 3 in singles play. The fourth flight went unfinished tied at five in the third set.

The winner of the Notre Dame, Florida State match will have the opportunity to take on the top-seeded and sixth-ranked Virginia Cavaliers at 10 a.m. Friday the 22nd.
