TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team picked up a handful of wins Saturday at the Crimson Tide Four in the Fall at the University of Alabama Tennis Stadium.
The Irish picked up four singles wins and pair of doubles wins against host Alabama to bring their weekend total to 11. In singles, freshman Nathan Griffin defeated Hayes Brewer, 7-5, 6-0; senior Kenneth Sabacinski beat Danny Kerznerman, 6-0, 6-2; senior Nicolas Montoya upended Spencer Richey, 6-2, 7-6, 6-4; and sophomore Drew Dawson unseated Sam Edwards, 6-2, 6-7, 6-4.
In doubles, Quentin Monaghan and Schnurrenberger defeated Becker O’Schaughnessey and Mazen Osama 6-3, and Dawson and Daniel Rayl eked out a win over Edwards and Nikko Madregallejo 7-6(5).
The Crimson Tide scored an upset in the singles portion of the morning as No. 96 Korey Lovett defeated No. 5 Monaghan in three sets, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4.
The Irish will wrap action in Tuscaloosa on Sunday.
