Irish Men's Soccer Announces 2021 Schedule

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame men’s soccer program and McFarland Family Head Men’s Soccer Coach Chad Riley announced the 2022 schedule, a slate that features 16 regular season matches.

TEN-MATCH HOME SLATE

The Irish will host 10 regular season matches at Alumni Stadium this fall, including four conference matchups and two against Big Ten opponents. Five of the matches will be played on Friday or Saturday and the other five will be weekday fixtures.

RIVALRIES RENEWED

After COVID-19 altered Notre Dame’s schedule, several regional rivalries were put on hold during the 2020-21 season. Those matchups return to the 2021 fall slate, as the Irish open the season against intrastate rival Indiana at Alumni Field on August 27 in the annual Berticelli Memorial Game. Notre Dame will also once again face Michigan State (home on Sept. 14) and Michigan (away on Sept. 21).

ROAD WORK AHEAD

Notre Dame’s 2020 fall schedule features six road matches, but each will present a challenge, as four are against ACC opponents (Boston College 9/10, Virginia Tech 9/24, Clemson (10/9 & UNC 10/29). The other two are against Kentucky (9/3) and Michigan (9/21).

TOURNEY TIME

The ACC Championship will run from Nov. 3 through Nov. 14. The first, quarterfinal and semifinal rounds will take place on college campuses with the final being held at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.

PRESEASON EXHIBITIONS

The Irish will play a total of two exhibitions in preparation for the regular season. Notre Dame will host both of the preseason matches, taking on Butler on August 19 and St. Thomas on August 23.
