Irish Men's Tennis Travels to Ann Arbor For Wolverine Invitational

The University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team makes the short trip over to Ann Arbor this weekend for the Wolverine Invitational at the Varsity Tennis Center. The Irish will face Michigan, Vanderbilt and a combined squad from Western Michigan and Boise State in a “hidden dual” format.

Notre Dame’s travel squad includes Stephen Bass, Brett Helgeson, Ryan Keckley, Santiago Montoya, Barry King, Andrew Roth, Sheeva Parbhu, Sean Corrigan and Irackli Akhvlediani. Parbhu and Bass are ranked No. 20 and 21 in singles. Parbhu and Keckley are ranked 36th in doubles, while Bass and Helgeson are 46th.

Notre Dame enters the tournament following its impressive performance last weekend at the Tom Fallon Invitational. The Irish finished the competition with an overall record of 33-6 (26-4 in singles and 7-2 in doubles).

Helgeson, Roth, Akhvlediani and King all went 4-0 for Notre Dame last weekend in singles action. Keckley and Parbhu, as well as King and Helgeson, went 3-0 in doubles.

Action starts on Friday when the Irish open with doubles against host Michigan at 11:30 a.m. and finishes with singles against Boise State/Western Michigan at 12:30 p.m. Matches resume Saturday at 11:30 with doubles against Boise State/Western Michigan and singles versus the Wolverines at 12:30 p.m. Notre Dame will then battle Vanderbilt in singles and doubles beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
