Irish Men's Tennis Contigent Avances At Tom Fallon Invitational.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame men’s tennis squad advanced three singles players and two doubles teams into Sunday’s championship finals at the Tom Fallon Invitational following quarter and semifinal play Saturday here at the Courtney Tennis Center.

Irish singles players Aaron Talarico (B Singles), who defeated Rice’s Alexis Pourchet , and Adrian Hidaka (D Singles), who beat teammate Ricky Buhrman, each advanced into the final match with straight-set victories over their opponents. The third Notre Dame singles player to advance to Sunday’s championship match was Bryan Acken, who won in the third set tiebreak, 7-6, over Indiana State’s Henry Choi in the C Singles main draw.

Talarico also advanced to Sunday’s A Doubles championship match with teammate Javier Taborga, after they defeated Purdue’s Carl McCafferty and Derek Miller, 8-6 in the semifinals. Talarico and Taborga will face Wisconsin’s Dustin Friedman and Danny Westerman, who claimed an 8-5 victory over Indiana State’s Nathan Crick and Greg Tranquada in the other semifinal.

The Notre Dame doubles team of Andrew Laflin and Ashok Raju advanced to the B Doubles championships final with a dominating 8-1 victory over teammates Tim Giattina and Chaney Martin. Laflin and Raju are set to meet Indiana State’s Gareth Keating and Jacek Wolicki.

The three-day Tom Fallon Invitational, named for the former Notre Dame head coach, concludes Sunday, Sept. 26, at the Courtney Tennis Center with both championship and consolation singles and doubles action.
