Irish Hockey To Host Annual Teddy Bear Toss And Skate With The Irish

Nov. 28, 2012

Notre Dame, Ind. – The Notre Dame hockey team will start getting into the Christmas spirit when the Irish play host to the Lake Superior State Lakers in a 7:05 p.m. game on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Compton Family Ice Arena. That’s when they will host their annual “Teddy Bear Toss” to benefit Toys for Tots during the game and then follow with the annual Skate with the Irish and Santa that is open to all fans in attendance.

Fans are asked to bring Teddy Bears to the game (a limited amount will be available for sale at the game) that they will be able to throw onto the ice during the second intermission. All the Teddy Bears and the proceeds collected will be donated to Toys for Tots so that they can be distributed during the Christmas holidays.

Irish head coach Jeff Jackson will be donating Teddy Bears to early-arriving members of the student section to toss on the ice during the second intermission.

The holiday fun continues immediately following the game, when the team will host its annual Skate with the Irish and Santa promotion at the Lefty Smith Rink. The entire team will return to the ice along with Santa Claus to skate with their loyal fans. Santa Claus will be available for photos as will members of the Irish hockey team.

Skate rentals will be available for $3.00 following the game and Skate with the Irish is open to all fans in attendance.

A limited number of tickets remain for the Lake Superior State game on Saturday, Dec. 1. For ticket information, call 574-631-7356, visit UND.com/tickets or stop by the Murnane Family Ticket Office.
