Irish Fall to Virginia at Home

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to the Virginia Cavaliers at the Eck Tennis Pavilion Sunday afternoon. After falling in the doubles point, Notre Dame got a win from Meghan Coleman at No. 6 singles to earn the point. The Irish fall to 9-8 on the season with the loss, and 2-5 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.

 

Carrie Beckman and Nibedita Ghosh earned a 6-2 win in doubles, but the Irish couldn’t find the win at No. 1 or No. 2 to take the point. Page Freeman and Maria Olivia Castedp came close, falling at No. 1, 7-5.

 

Coleman earned a 0-6, 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles for the lone point of the day. The Irish fell in straight-sets in the top five flights.
