LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The 19th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish men’s basketball team concluded its regular season at 23-8 (12-6 in ACC) with a 71-64 loss at the hands of eighth-ranked Louisville on Saturday at the Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky.

It was back-and-forth battle that featured 12 lead changes and both teams holding a lead for over 15 minutes. Notre Dame cut Louisville’s lead to two at 64-62 with 0:37 seconds remaining, but a big three pointer from Deng Adel put the home team ahead to stay.

Bonzie Colson led the Irish with 20 points on six-of-12 shooting, including two-of-three from behind the three point line. V.J. Beachem continued his hot play with 17 points – 12 of those coming in the second half.

The Irish now await their position in the ACC Tournament, which begins next week at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. A Florida State or Duke loss this afternoon/evening can earn the Irish a double-bye in the conference tournament, but there are scenarios where Notre Dame could fall as far to the fifth seed in the field.
