HOW IT HAPPENED

The Irish opened the contest with a goal from Choma to answer back Michigan’s first goal of the game.  It was a back and forth affair when Michigan continued to score three more goals but in between those, Notre Dame answered with goals from Madison Mote and Madison Ahern.

In the first quarter the Irish had 10 shots and five draw controls. They lead in both shots and shots on goal.

The second quarter saw Michigan score four goals. The Irish got one on the board when a free position shot attempt for Madison Ahern resulted in Notre Dame’s fourth goal.  By the end of the half Michigan led 8-4.

In the third quarter Bridget Deehan had a huge save that propelled the Irish to their fifth goal. Kasey Choma found the back of the net right off of the clear attempt. Not long after, Hannah Dorney scored off an assist from Jane McAvoy. The goal from Dorney cut into the Michigan lead 9-6.

The fourth quarter started off with a goal from Michigan to make it 10-6.  The Irish attempted four shots but could not get the ball to fall in the net. Michigan added one more to their tally but the Irish responded with one of their own from Mote, making it 11-7.

The Irish return to action on February 19 at Vanderbilt. There will be live stats available and the game can be streamed on Youtube.
