Irish Earn Ninth-Seed in Upcoming ACC Tournament

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team earned the ninth-seed in the upcoming Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament in Rome, Georgia this week. The Irish enter the tournament at 13-11 and are 5-8 in conference play, and are ranked 39th nationally by ITA.

After dropping a pair of matches last week, Notre Dame will matchup with the Florida State Seminoles Thursday, April 21st at 3:30 p.m. in Rome. Earlier this season, the Irish and Seminoles battled to a 4-3 final score in favor of Florida State at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.

The two teams split the singles matches, with Notre Dame taking matches at the second, third and fifth flights. Four of the six singles matches went into three sets in the highly-competitive match.

The winner of Florida State and Notre Dame will matchup with the top-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
