Irish Duo Advance At Midwest Regionals

URBANA, Ill. — Both University of Notre Dame entries at the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional Championships singles qualifying draw secured spots in the quarterfinal round Thursday at the Atkins Tennis Center.

Allison Miller and Molly O’Koniewski enjoyed first-round byes before recording second-round victories. Miller defeated Sephora Boulbahaiem from Eastern Illinois, 6-1, 6-4, while O’Koniewski pulled out a 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 win over Detroit’s Valeriya Kulikovskaya to advance.

Round three of the qualifying draw will start at 9 a.m. (CT) Friday. Miller will face Alexa Brandt (Bradley), with O’Koniewski pairing with Jade Hilton (Illinois). The first round of the doubles portion of the tournament will commence at 2 p.m. (CT).
