NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame men’s swimming and diving team fell to host Air Force, 138-105, in both teams’ dual-meet season openers Thursday in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Irish were led by double-event winners diver Herb Huesman, who won both the one and three-meter events, and sophomore Jonathan Pierce, who picked up first-place finishes in the 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle. Senior Ray Fitzpatrick (200 freestyle) and junior Ryan Verlin (200 butterfly) rounded out the Irish event winners. The Falcons won seven of the 13 events overall, including both relays, to pick up the team victory.
The Notre Dame men’s swimming and diving team continue their trip through Colorado, traveling to the two-day Colorado State Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo., October 22-23.
