Irish Cap Regular Season With FSU & Miami

NOTRE DAME, Indiana — The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team caps its 2017-18 regular season with visits from Florida State and Miami this weekend. The Irish host the Seminoles on Friday, April 20, at 4 p.m., before the Hurricanes visit on Sunday, April 22 at Noon.

Prior to Sunday’s match, head coach Jay Louderback and the Fighting Irish program will recognize senior Allison Miller.

On The Fighting Irish

Notre Dame enters the final weekend of the regular season coming off a 7-0 win at IUPUI on Wednesday. The Irish didn’t drop a set in the victory. One of the team’s top spring singles record belongs to Ally Bojczuk, who is 13-6 on the spring with a 9-2 record at court six. The freshman played at three singles, her highest spot in the lineup, during Wednesday’s win at IUPUI. Zoe Spence also played at her highest point in the lineup, with the sophomore winning at court two to run her spring record to 15-6.

On The Seminoles

No. 18 Florida State brings two nationally-ranked singles players to take on the Irish, as well as two ranked doubles pairings. Carla Touly is ranked 18th nationally singles play, while Petra Hule checks-in at 93rd. Hule pairs with Andrea Garcia to form the ITA’s 49th-ranked doubles pair, while Touly and Arianna Rahmanparast are ranked No. 93 in the nation.

Notre Dame owns a 3-2 all-time record against Florida State. Last season, the Seminoles secured a 4-0 victory in Tallahassee.

On The Hurricanes

No. 17 Miami travels to Louisville on Friday before making the trip north to take on the Irish Sunday at Noon. The Hurricanes boast two nationally ranked singles players in No. 3 Estela Perez-Sombarriba and No. 57 Sinead Lohan. Four Miami doubles pairings find themselves among the ITA’s national rankings – Perez-Somarriba and Ana Madcur at 36th, Perez-Somarriba and Daniella Roldan at No. 78, Madcur and Loban at No. 81 and Dominika Paterova and Ulyana Shirokova at No. 85.

The Irish hold a 12-10 edge in the all-time series with Miami, including a 5-2 victory over the Hurricanes a season ago.
