2005 NOTRE DAME WOMEN’S SOCCER – at Marquette and South Florida (Sept. 30, 7:00 CDT and Oct. 25; 1:00 EDT)

The Notre Dame women’s soccer team (9-1-0, 3-0-0 BIG EAST) – ranked as high as 5th in the national polls – resumes its five-game road stretch this weekend at 18th-ranked Marquette (Sept. 30; 7:00 CDT) and South Florida (Oct. 2; 1:00 EDT) … bonus live-audio will be available at und.com for the Marquette game while USF will offer live-stats … the Irish are in the midst of playing the BIG EAST’s five newcomers to open the 2005 conference schedule, already having posted shutout wins over DePaul (6-0), Cincinnati (4-0) and Louisville (3-0) … ND has bounced back from its 2-1 loss at #6 Santa Clara by posting a 20-1 scoring margin in the past five games … the Irish lead the nation in scoring with 48 goals and 4.80 goals/gm, led by the nation’s top scoring tandem of senior Katie Thorlakson (9G-13A) and freshman Kerri Hanks (16G-5A) … the Irish also rank 17th nationally in goals-against avg. (0.50), joining UNC, Portland and Oklahoma State as the only teams in the top-20 for scoring and GAA … ND’s +4.3 avg. scoring margin also leads the nation (UNC’s +3.90 and Oklahoma State’s +3.22 are the only othe teams above +3.00) … the DePaul game was the 400th in the 17-year history of ND women’s soccer (the Irish program has won nearly 84% of its all-time games, at 328-58-17).
