Irish Athletes Set To Compete at 2007 ConocoPhillips Swimming National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – The Notre Dame women’s swimming team is staying busy during the summer as nine current, incoming or former Irish swimmers are set to compete at the 2007 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships in Indianapolis, Ind., July 31-Aug. 4.

Three current Fighting Irish athletes will compete throughout the week, including Claire Hutchinson (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) in the 800-meter and the 1,500-meter freestyle, Ashlee Edgell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Madeira) in the 400-meter individual medley and Christa Riggins (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope) in the 100-meter and the 400-meter freestyle.

Several incoming freshman to the Notre Dame women’s swimming team will also be involved in the competition. Kellyn Kuhlke (200-meter butterfly, 100-meter butterfly), Samantha Maxwell (200-meter breaststroke, 100-meter breaststroke), Lauren Parisi (200-meter backstroke), Lauren Sylvester (400-meter freestyle, 200-meer freestyle, 1,500-meter freestyle) and Amywren Miller (50-meter freestyle) are all set to swim during the national meet.

Rounding out the group of Irish swimmers is former Notre Dame standout Katie Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy). The two-time All-American will have a busy week as she is slated to compete in five different events: the 200-meter butterfly, the 400-meter individual medley, the 400-meter freestyle, the 200-meter freestyle and the 200-meter individual medley. Carroll comes off a gold medal performance at the Pan America games in the 800-meter freestyle relay last week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
