TRAVEL & DAY 1
After an eventful day of travel, the Irish touched down in Athens Friday evening and enjoyed dinner as a team upon arrival to the hotel.

Saturday began with breakfast as a team before departing for the field to practice drills alongside student-athletes from Loughborough University who they were set to scrimmage later in the week.

From practice, the team headed to the City Centre to take in Athens’ downtown plaza. The team also learned the Greek metro system Saturday evening as part of their tour downtown to close out the first full day of their foreign tour.

DAY 2
The final Irish bag, carrying the team’s sticks, arrived in time for the women to scrimmage in an international friendly with the Loughborough team to kick off day two of the trip following a combined breakfast between the two squads.

At the fields, the teams intermixed for the scrimmage with Team Gold ultimately clinching the victory in the final quarter.

The Irish cooled down from the game with a beach excursion, enjoying the seaside district of Athens Sunday afternoon. While there, the women enjoyed time relaxing with a book, paddle boating, and catching up with each other.

Following a long afternoon at the beach, the Irish returned to the hotel for dinner before embarking on a sunset hike to the highest point in Athens, Mt. Lycabettus. With 360 degree views of the city, sea, and neighboring islands, the view from the top was breathtaking as the group posed for a photo to document the moment. While there, the women experienced a ceremonious lowering of the Greek flag by members of the armed forces to end the night and signal it was time for the walk back.
