NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Former Notre Dame men’s lacrosse players Brian Hubschmann (Short Hills, N.J./Delbarton) and Lucius Polk (Washington, D.C./St. Albans) will participate in this Friday’s National Lacrosse League (NLL) combine to showcase their skills prior to the league’s draft. The 2007 NLL Entry Draft will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1 at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo. at 4:00 p.m. (ET).

The NLL will host an invite-only combine for 42 of the top draft prospects on Friday (Aug. 31). The potential draftees will participate in clinics and drills before a combine game on the turf at the Pepsi Center at 8:00 p.m. (ET). Both Friday’s combine game and Saturday’s draft is free and open to the public.

The draft, which consists of six rounds, features the top lacrosse talent from U.S. college programs as well as Canada’s junior lacrosse system. The Boston expansion team currently holds the first overall selection. The NLL is a professional indoor league.

Hubschmann, a midfielder/attackman, returned to Notre Dame for a fifth season in 2007 and helped the Irish capture their 10th Great Western Lacrosse League (GWLL) title and make the program’s 12th NCAA Tournament appearance. He finished second on the team with 27 goals. Hubschmann garnered honorable mention All-America honors along with being named to the all-GWLL second team. He concluded his college career with 79 goals and 45 assists.

Polk had a breakout season for the Fighting Irish in 2007 as he posted career-high numbers with 18 goals and nine assists. He started 14 of 15 games and notched seven man-up goals, which was the second-highest total for Notre Dame. Polk was rewarded for his fine season as he copped second-team all-GWLL honors.
