Notre Dame, Ind. – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish hockey team, off to its best start since the 1998-99 season, moved back into the national hockey rankings this week for the first time since March 9, 1999, as they are ranked 15th in the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine poll for the week of Oct. 21.
The Irish, 3-0-1 on the year and 2-0-0 in CCHA play, have won three in a row after opening with a 2-2 tie on Oct. 11 at Minnesota-Duluth.
Notre Dame recorded 54 votes in the U.S. College Hockey Online poll to finish 46 votes short of the 15th spot in that poll.
The newest college hockey poll – Inside College Hockey.com – has the Irish ranked 11th in its most recent power rankings.
During the 1998-99 season, the Irish were ranked in the national top 10 for 13 consecutive weeks from Oct. 19 through Feb. 15.
