NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s lacrosse head coach Christine Halfpenny and her staff are hitting the road for a pair of Attack the Pipes Lacrosse Camps this December.
The two camps will take place on Sunday, Dec. 2 in Greenfield, Mass., and from Dec. 7-9 in Dallas, Texas, and will feature the Irish women’s lacrosse staff, coaches from UConn, Bryant, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Virginia Tech, Richmond, and Southwestern and USA team members.
“Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in high school and college in the country,” said Halfpenny. “We as a staff are excited to help expand the game of women’s lacrosse by hosting camps around the country that offer young girls a chance to learn more about the game and improve their skill set while bringing it conveniently to a location near them.
“We take a lot of pride in hitting the regions of the country that are booming with young athletes that are excited about learning more about the fastest game on two feet,” said Halfpenny.

Halfpenny is entering her second year as coach of the Irish women’s lacrosse program after putting together a 13-5 campaign during her first year that saw the squad advance to both the BIG EAST and NCAA Tournaments and end the year ranked ninth nationally. The Irish open up the 2013 campaign Feb. 16 in Palo Alto, Calif., as they do battle with the Cardinal of Stanford.
Greenfield, Massachusetts
The fourth-annual Greenfield, Mass., clinic will be held at Indoor Action Sports and feature head coaches from UConn and Bryant as well as the Irish staff.
The one-day clinic will offer two separate sessions. Session one is geared towards individual lacrosse skills including: stick skills, shooting, checking and draw control technique. Session two is designed to focus on situational play in the critical scoring area for both defense and offense including man-up and man-down strategies.
The cost is $50 per session and participants must pay online. The clinic is open to girls who are in grades 7th-12th and is open to all skill levels. Participants should bring their own stick, goggles, mouth guard, water bottle and shoes for field-turf equipment, while goalies should bring all of their own equipment.
Dallas, Texas
The third-annual Dallas, Texas clinic will take place at the Episcopal School of Dallas and features coaches from Duke, Johns Hopkins, Virginia Tech, Richmond and Southwestern as well as USA team members.
The Academic Prospect Lacrosse Camp (APL) is for high school girls that are in grades 9th-12th and will feature sessions that are divided by skill development to enhance individual play. There will also be small strategy and game-like drills to teach the concepts of team play. Campers will be grouped according to ability and challenged on a daily basis. Scrimmages will culminate with a camp tournament on the last day of camp.
Goalies will get to work with World Cup gold medal goalie Megan Huether in separate skill sessions. In the evening they will be able to utilize those skills in small game situations and full field play.
The cost of the camp is $350 per participant until Nov. 16 and then will bump up to $400 for the final three weeks of registration.
