ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Notre Dame sophomore women’s tennis player Kimberly Guy defeated junior teammate Sarah Scaringe 6-3, 6-3 to win the No. 2 flight of singles at the Wolverine Fall Invitational at the University of Michigan. In the consolation of No. 2, freshman Berica Day won 6-1, 7-5 over Texas A&M’s Danielle Lee.

In the consolation of Flight No. 1, junior Kelly Zalinski rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over Texas A&Ms Lisa Dingwall. Freshmen Lindsey Green beat Texas A&M’s Martina Nedorostova 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, and Nina Vaughan beat Texas A&M’s Monica San Miguel 7-6, 5-7, 6-4. Irish freshman Becky Varnum lost 6-3, 6-4 to North Carolina’s Courtney Zalinski.

In the doubles round-robin competition, Vaughan and Zalinski beat Michigan’s eighth-ranked Brooke Hart and Danielle Lund 8-5. Green and Guy won 8-5 over Farah and Canfield of Michigan, while Scaringe and Varnum lost 8-6 to Michigan’s Boylan and Weggenman.
