Gleason Falls In Round Of 16 At ITA Midwest Regional

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team’s stay at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships ended Sunday as the lone remaining Irish player fell in singles action.

Top-seeded senior Quinn Gleason fell to 13-16 seed Sandy Niehaus of Ohio State in three sets, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 in the Round of 16. Gleason is now 3-2 in singles play through the fall.

The Irish will return to the court in two weeks when they split time between the Illinois Blast in Champaign, Illinois, and the Bedford Cup at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.

Joanne Norell, athletics communications assistant at the University of Notre Dame, has been part of the Fighting Irish athletics communications team since 2014 and coordinates communications efforts for the Notre Dame women’s soccer, men’s tennis, women’s tennis and fencing programs. Norell is a 2011 graduate of Purdue University and earned her master’s degree from Georgetown University in 2013.
