Getting To Know …
Offensive Tackle Alex Bullard

Sophomore offensive tackle Alex Bullard continues to develop within the Notre Dame system, learning technique behind two veteran lineman last season, Sam Young and Paul Duncan, while taking notes from Zach Martin and Taylor Dever in the early stages of this season. Bullard will look to be a prominent fixture on the offensive line in the weeks and years to come for the Irish. GameDay’s Maura Jones gives Irish fans a chance to get to know Alex Bullard.

Jones: What is your earliest football memory?
Bullard: My first football memory would have to be of me and my dad in the backyard. He’s teaching me how to play because he wants me to go out for the team, and I punched him in the chest, and he got hurt, and he had to stop and catch his breath. I was physical.

Jones: When you were younger, what were you always getting in trouble for?
Bullard: I would always get in trouble for my card being red in class because I was always talking.

Jones: Do you have any memories of Notre Dame growing up?
Bullard: When I was in middle school I went to the Notre Dame-Tennessee game – a game won by the Irish.

Jones: What do you miss this most about home?
Bullard: I definitely miss country music and my friends.

Jones: Who has been the most influential on your life and why?
Bullard: My dad has been, because we’ve always seen eye-to-eye on things; we relate to each other.

Jones: What was your best Halloween costume growing up?
Bullard: I would always be the character from Scream.

Jones: What is your favorite video game of all-time to play?
Bullard: I’m definitely excited for the new game, Halo: Reach. [I also like] Madden and NCAA Football.

Jones: Do you have any hidden talents?
Bullard: I’m a good swimmer. I was on the swim team in high school.

Jones: What song on your iPod would surprise people?
Bullard: It would be that song called Boondocks.

Jones: If you could trade places with any person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional, who would it be?
Bullard: I would want to switch with Yoda from Star Wars.

Jones: If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play you in the lead role?
Bullard: Denzel Washington.

Jones: If you could have any superpower, what would you want?
Bullard: I guess I would want to fly.

Jones: What was the one thing that sold you on Notre Dame?
Bullard: The people here and the tradition won me over.

Jones: What is the most important thing you’ve learned while playing at Notre Dame?
Bullard: I’ve learned to come to work every day and play hard. You really can’t back down because people here are too good. You just have to bring it on every down.

Jones: What song always gets you ready to take the field?
Bullard: Any Franchise Boyz song.

Jones: What would your ideal day off consist of?
Bullard: It would probably be going to Cedar Point, playing golf, and sleeping.
