NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The NCAA has announced that the game between Notre Dame and Middle Tennessee in the second round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship will be played Tuesday, March 23 at 7 p.m. (ET) at the Joyce Center on the Notre Dame campus. The East Region game will be shown on either ESPN or ESPN2, with the network making a final determination on the broadcast outlet Monday.
No. 5 seed Notre Dame (20-10) advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship for the ninth consecutive year with a thrilling 69-65 overtime win over Southwest Missouri State on Sunday at the Joyce Center. Middle Tennessee (24-7), the 13th seed, is the reigning Sun Belt Conference champion and earned a spot in the second round for the first time since 1986 with a 67-62 upset of fourth-seeded (and 12th-ranked) North Carolina, also on Sunday afternoon. Notre Dame and Middle Tennessee have never met on the basketball hardwood.
Tickets for Tuesday night’s game may be obtained through the Notre Dame Athletics Ticket Office, which will be open at Gate 1 of the Joyce Center during normal business hours Monday and Tuesday. Fans may also call the ticket office at (574) 631-7356 and make their purchases over the phone.
