Galajda Named Big Ten’s Second Star

NOTRE DAME, Ind.  – Graduate student Matthew Galajda has been named Big Ten Hockey’s Second Star of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday (Feb. 22). 

Galajda helped the Irish to a series sweep at Michigan State this past weekend (Feb. 18-19), with Notre Dame taking game one 2-1 and game two 4-2. The Aurora, Ontario native stopped 63 of the 66 shots he faced on the weekend for an impressive .955 save percentage to go along with a 1.50 goals against average. 

The game two win over the Spartans was Galajda’s 73rd career victory as he moved into a tie for 13th all-time in career wins (NCAA DI men).

On the season, Galajda is 13-5-0 with a .927 save percentage and a 2.08 goals against average. His save percentage ranks seventh in the country, while his goals against average is good for eighth. He previously earned Big Ten Third Star of the Week honors on Oct. 26 and Nov. 16.
