The University of Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team sent three competitors to the Bulldog Invitational meet in Athens, Ga., looking for NCAA qualification times in their respective events. Freshmen Christel Bouvron and Mary Steffan, along with senior Heidi Hendrick, made the trip.

Bouvron had the top performance for the Irish, finishing second in the 100 butterfly with a 55.67 effort. The 55.67 time is under the NCAA “B” time, putting Bouvron in contention for a spot in the NCAA Championship.

Hendrick finished third in the 50 freestyle (23.85), while Steffan was fifth (25.48).

The competition continues on Saturday, as Bouvron swims the 200 butterfly while Hendrick and Steffan swim in the 100 freestyle.
