Veteran Notre Dame men's swimming head coach Tim Welsh has led the Irish on a consistently-upward trajectory, particularly since 2004-05, with Notre Dame winning six BIG EAST titles in that span and sending a school-record nine swimmers (including four honorable mention All-Americans) to the 2013 NCAA Championships.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – is debuting another of its new interactive features for the 2010-11 season, with its weekly Fighting Irish Fan Chats. will sit down for a live chat session with student-athletes, coaches and administrators making news in the world of Fighting Irish athletics. Fans are invited to join in and offer questions or comments for our guests, and if you can’t join us live, each chat will be archived so you can return to at your convenience and read what your favorite Notre Dame athletic personalities have to say on a variety of topics.

The Jan. 27 Fighting Irish Fan Chat featured a trio of Notre Dame head coaches, including men’s tennis coach Bob Bayliss (1 p.m.), women’s basketball coach Muffet McGraw (1:30 p.m.) and men’s swimming coach Tim Welsh (2 p.m.).

Each of the men’s and women’s swimming teams, both of which received votes in this week’s poll, will be in action on Friday and Saturday when they play host to the annual Shamrock Invitational.

Bayliss and the No. 36 men’s tennis squad (1-1) return to action on Friday when they square off against No. 17 Oklahoma at the National Team Indoor Qualifier hosted by No. 16 Illinois. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m. CT. Depending on their result against the Sooners, the Irish will either play the winner or loser of the Illini and No. 39 Denver match at 2 p.m. CT (consolation) or 6 p.m. CT (championship) on Saturday.

No. 9 Notre Dame (17-4, 6-1 BIG EAST) was off this week, but returns to the hardwood at 7 p.m. ET Saturday when it travels to suburban Philadelphia for a BIG EAST matchup with Villanova at The Pavilion. The Irish have won four consecutive games by an average margin of 26.8 points, including routs of No. 23 St. John’s and No. 16 Georgetown.
