NOTRE DAME, Ind. — University of Notre Dame junior women’s fencer Morgan Partridge earned the title of Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Fencer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Partridge, a foilist from Swansea, Massachusetts, led the No. 1 Irish women to wins over four ranked opponents on Saturday at the Northwestern Duals, amassing a 10-2 record in the matches in which she appeared. She performed best against the highest-ranked opponents of the session, going 3-0 against both No. 2 Northwestern (a 15-12 win for the Irish) and No. 6 Princeton (a 19-8 victory). The Irish women collected eight wins in total, improving to 31-2 on the season, while Partridge climbed to 27-6 on the season.
The Irish will return to competition Feb. 23-24 during the ACC Championships, hosted by Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. In the meantime, select Irish fencers will compete at the USA Fencing Junior Olympics in Denver.
