Evans Named Big Ten's Third Star Of The Week

NOTRE DAME, Ind.
— After posting two goals and three assists for five points in No. 4/5 Notre Dame’s weekend split with Michigan State, senior captain Jake Evans was named the Big Ten’s Third Star of the Week on Tuesday (Feb. 27).

Evans had a goal in each game against the Spartans, including a shorthanded tally on Friday night which was his second shorthanded goal of the season and the third of his career. He scored a goal and added two assists in Saturday’s senior night game, marking his his 12th multi-point game of the season and the 32nd of his career.

On the season, Evans leads the Irish with 38 points on 11 goals and a team-best 27 assists. His 27 assists rank third among Big Ten skaters and tied for seventh nationally. He also ranks second in the country with 460 faceoff wins.

A 2017-18 Senior CLASS Award® finalist, Evans has 130 career points on 39 goals and 91 assists in 152 games. His 130 points rank tied for 25th in program history. To vote for the 2017-18 Senior Class Award, click here.

By virtue of winning the 2017-18 Big Ten Regular Season Championship, Notre Dame will have a bye next weekend while the remaining six teams play best-of-three campus site playoff series (at the higher seeded team).
