Dorney To Compete At Professional Level

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Former Irish All-American and recent University of Notre Dame alumna Hannah Dorney has been named to Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse, a women’s professional lacrosse league in its third season. The league features 56 of the top women’s lacrosse players from around the world and is set to get underway July 20, 2023.

Dorney graduated from ND with her master’s degree in May. A five-year standout midfielder for the Irish, Dorney most recently earned All-American honorable mention accolades from USA Lacrosse Magazine. Her veteran ability in the midfield led the Irish to a berth in the ACC Semifinals and NCAA Quarterfinals in 2023. The graduate student appeared in 80 career games with the Irish, tallying 60 points behind 45 goals and 15 assists. In her final season with the Blue and Gold, Dorney boasted a career-best 11 goals and added three assists for 14 total points. The midfielder was also a large contributor on the back half of the field, causing 21 turnovers in 2023 and picking up 41 ground balls. She completed her collegiate career with 72 caused turnovers and 119 ground balls while adding 17 draw controls to her career total, over 70-percent of which came in her final season.

Founded in 2021, the Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse league runs over the course of five weeks, with teams changing weekly and athletes earning points as individuals for their impact on the field. Dorney joins Andie Aldave and Cortney Fortunado as Irish alumnae competing in the league this summer.
