Doerer Named Groza Award Stars of the Week

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame graduate student Jonathan Doerer was named a Lou Groza Award Star of the Week following his performance in Notre Dame’s 41-38 overtime win over Florida State.

Doerer sealed the win for the Irish in the first overtime when he hit a 41-yard field goal to end the game. The kick clinched the first road overtime win for the Irish in program history. He also connected on a 48-yard field goal in the second quarter and was a perfect five-for-five on PAT’s against the Seminoles.

Doerer was the first Irish player to win the game on the final play of the game since Kyle Brindza hit a 32-yard field goal as time expired to beat LSU in the 2014 Music City Bowl.
