NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame diving squad finished competition at the NCAA Zone C Qualifiers Saturday afternoon, where sophomore Joseph Coumos qualified for the second consecutive season.

In Friday’s three-meter competition, Coumos came in seventh place with his score of 751.50, earning a ticket to the men’s NCAA Championships March 25-28th at the University of Iowa. He missed the mark in Saturday’s platform competition, coming in 14th (531.80), but due to qualifying in one of the three events, is still eligible to dive in both the one-meter and platform events at the Championship meet.

Other men’s divers competing in Columbus, Ohio this past week included seniors Michael Kreft and Ted Wagner, sophomore James Lichtenstein and freshman Peter Myers. Kreft and Wagner only competed in the one-meter and three-meter events – in Friday’s three-meter competition, Kreft came in 16th (625.60) and Wagner, 23rd (289.05) as they completed their collegiate diving careers.

Lichtenstein and Myers both competed in all three competitions, with Myers placing 17th in the three-meter (614.80) and Lichtenstein finishing 24th (280.00). In the platform event, Myers finished 16th (504.65) and Lichtenstein, 17th (468.90).
