Demetrius Jackson Named ACC Player Of The Week

Feb. 15, 2016

University of Notre Dame junior guard Demetrius Jackson (Mishawaka, Ind.) has earned Player of the Week honors from the Atlantic Coast Conference for the first time in his career, as the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

Jackson led Notre Dame to a 2-0 week in conference play with victories at Clemson (89-83 on Feb. 8) and versus #13 Louisville (71-66 on Feb. 13) as the Irish surged into fourth place in the league standings.

In the two games, Jackson averaged 22.0 points per game, shot .444 from three-point range and averaged 40 minutes played per game. He matched his career-high with 27 points against Louisville on Saturday, hitting a career-best six three pointers in the Irish victory.

The weekly ACC award award is the first of Jackson’s career at Notre Dame and the first this season for the Irish basketball program. It is the seventh weekly award for Notre Dame since joining the conference for the 2013-14 season, as Jerian Grant was named player of the week three times in 2014-15, Eric Atkins earned two player of the week awards in 13-14 and Steve Vasturia was named Rookie of the Week once in 13-14.
