Defender Sullivan Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame women’s lacrosse player Barbara Sullivan has earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced on Monday.

The freshman tallied eight ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers as the Irish went 1-1 on the week, losing to No. 2 Syracuse, 16-10, before overwhelming Villanova, 18-5.

Against the Orange Sullivan collected three ground balls and two draw controls and caused one turnover. On Saturday against the Wildcats, Sullivan recorded a career-high five ground balls and tied her career high with two draw controls. She also caused three turnovers as the Irish limited Villanova to only five goals.

So far this year the Garden City, N.Y., native leads the team in ground balls (26) and is tied for the lead in caused turnovers with teammate Margaret Smith (19). In the BIG EAST, Sullivan is fifth in both ground balls per game (2.36) and caused turnovers per game (1.73).

The No. 7 Irish (9-2, 3-2 BE) have had five players earn nine awards so far this season from the conference office, including at least one honoree every week of the season.
