Deceased Monogram Club Members Remembered At Annual Mass

The Monogram Club’s annual June meeting events (held prior to Reunion Weekend) included the traditional Mass in which deceased Monogram Club members are remembered. The Mass was held on June 2 in the Joyce Center Monogram Room, with Rev. Jim Riehle, C.S.C. (Monogram Club executive director emeritus) and Rev. Al D’Alonzo, C.S.C. (like Riehle, an honorary monogram recipient) serving as co-celebrants.

The names of the following 30 Monogram Club members – who had passed away in the previous 12 months (June 2004 – May 2005) – were read in ceremonial remembrance, at the annual Mass on June 2.

Baseball – Alvin Kolski (’31) and Walt Mahannah (’50)

Basketball – Thomas Burns (’32), Francis Curran (’44) and John Ford (’37)

Fencing – Gerard Finney (’54; also played tennis) and Richard Snooks (’36)

Football – Matthew Bolger (’44), Max Burnell (’39), Thomas Devine (’74), Raymond Elbi (’42), Thaddeus Harvey (’40), Robert Maddock (’42) and Stephen Miller (’36)

Golf – Dr. Eric Bauwens (’80) and Paul Minnick (’54)

Tennis – Francis Weldon (’35)

Track and Field – Robert Lawrence (’40), Anthony Maloney (’43), Joseph Slbrys (’41), Stephen Provost (’49), Stephen Szumachowski (’39) and John Worthington (’51)

Student Manager – Leo Costello (’48), Robert Kvatsak (’39) and Daniel Sheedy (’39)

Cheerleader – James Paris (’45)

Honoraries – Edmond Haggar (’38), Dr. Arthur Hoffman (’37) and President Ronald Reagan

Note: former Monogram Club president Leo Klier (’46) passed away two days after the Mass, on June 4 … see the following link:
