David Brown Selected First Team All-CCHA For 2006-07 Season.

March 7, 2007

Notre Dame, Ind. – The list of postseason awards has started for Notre Dame goaltender David Brown (Sr., Stoney Creek, Ont.) as the Central Collegiate Hockey Association’s (CCHA) coaches have selected him as a first team all-CCHA choice for the 2006-07 season.

The talented goaltender becomes just the second Notre Dame player ever selected as a first team all-CCHA, joining defenseman Benoit Cotnoir `99, who was selected following the 1998-99 season. Seven other Irish players have been selected second team with Aaron Gill `04, Rob Globke `04 and Brett Lebda `04 being the last Notre Dame players selected all-CCHA in 2003-04.

Brown has had a remarkable season for the Irish in his senior year. He goes into this weekend’s second round of the CCHA playoffs against Alaska with a 25-5-3 overall record to go with a 1.68 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage plus five shutouts.

In 27 conference games, the management consulting major is 20-4-3 with a 1.77 goals against and a .922 save percentage. Four of his five shutouts have come in league play.

Brown received seven first-place votes and 47 points while Jeff Jakaitis of Lake Superior received four first-place votes and 41 points to take second-team honors. Miami’s Jeff Zatkoff received the only other first-place vote among goaltenders.

While no other Notre Dame player was selected to the all-CCHA team, two players received honorable mention – sophomore right wing Erik Condra (Livonia, Mich.) and senior defenseman Noah Babin (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.). Both received one first-place vote with Condra getting 17 points and Babin 12. Freshman defenseman Kyle Lawson (New Hudson, Mich.), an all-CCHA rookie team selection earlier this week, also received votes.
