DALLAS – Notre Dame junior men’s tennis player Ryan Sachire and sophomore women’s tennis player Michelle Dasso each won the consolation singles bracket on Saturday at the Rolex National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, the third leg of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association collegiate grand slam.

Third-ranked Sachire advanced to the finals with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 win over TCU’s sixth-ranked Esteban Carril in the semifinal. He then claimed the consolation singles title with a 6-2, 6-3 win over 25th-ranked Daniel Andersson of VCU.

Dasso beat 32nd-ranked Amanda Augustus of California in the semifinals of the consolation when Augustus retired in the second set with Dasso leading 7-6 (8-6), 3-2. Dasso took advantage of another injury when Petra Gaspar of BYU-Hawaii was forced to default the consolation singles final with an injury.

The 24th-ranked Notre Dame men’s tennis team returns to action when it travels to 26th-ranked Kentucky on Tues., Feb. 9, at 2:00 p.m. The 16th-ranked women’s team returns to action on Fri., Feb. 12, against 59th-ranked Ohio State at 6:00 p.m.
