NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Preseason honors for University of Notre Dame baseball standout Pat Connaughton continue to pour in as Baseball America has ranked the junior 34th on its annual College Top 100 list.

Connaughton, who was recently named a top-50 draft prospect (No. 46) by Perfect Game, is the No. 2 prospect from the state of Indiana, the No. 6 prospect in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the No. 15 right-handed pitching prospect and the No. 22 overall pitching prospect.

A standout on the Irish basketball team as well, the Arlington, Mass., native is turning in an outstanding year on the hardwood, averaging career highs in points (13.9) and rebounds (7.1) per game.

Last season, Connaughton started 10 games on the mound and went 4-2 with a 1.71 ERA after completing the 2012-13 hoops season.

Pitching in the famous Cape Cod League this summer for the Harwich Mariners, Connaughton went 1-1 with a 1.00 ERA and 10 strikeouts in two starts (9.0 IP).

After a standout high school career at St. John’s Prep in Danvers, Mass., the San Diego Padres selected Connaughton in the 33rd round of the 2011 MLB First-Year Players Draft.

The Irish, who went 34-24 in their final year in the BIG EAST in 2013, begin their first year in the ACC in mid February with a three-game set at 2013 NCAA Tournament team Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Fla., (Feb. 15-16).
