Prior to returning to Notre Dame, Colleran spent three years (2012-15) as the Senior Assistant Director of Athletic Media Relations at his alma mater, Providence College. He served as the primary contact for the nationally ranked and 2015 NCAA Div. I champion men’s hockey team as well as the nationally ranked and 2014 NCAA Div. I College Cup semifinalist men’s soccer team. He also worked closely with several graduate assistants who handled media relations for the women’s soccer, women’s hockey and softball teams.

He successfully promoted two-time All-American (2013 & 2015) and National Rookie of the Year (2013) Jon Gillies. He also increased the use of social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat to further promote the Friar brand, while increasing engagement with fans, alumni and national and local media.

During the Big East’s transition phase, he served as the men’s soccer communications contact for the 2013 season and compiled the Conference’s weekly release.

Prior to Providence College, Colleran spent two years at the Ivy League conference office (2010-12) in Princeton, N.J., ending his tenure as an Assistant Executive Director for Communications and Championships. He also assisted in the planning and executing of several of the league’s championship events.

At the Ivy League, Colleran integrated the conference with social media platforms and new media endeavors and created the League’s London Olympics Blog and subsequent coverage, which promoted the League’s 48 athletes and nine coaches who took part in the 2012 Olympic Games. He also served on multiple committees, including the Ad Hoc Men’s Ice Hockey Committee on Concussions and the Digital Strategies Committee, which ultimately led to the creation of the Ivy League Digital Network.

Colleran first worked at the University of Notre Dame as a sports information assistant from 2008-10, handling media relations responsibilities for the Irish men’s and women’s fencing teams, the men’s tennis and men’s and women’s golf programs. He also assisted with the women’s soccer and hockey teams.
