Notre Dame, Ind. – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish open the 2004-05 hockey season on Thursday, Oct. 7 when they play host to the fourth-ranked Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs at the Joyce Center. Opening face off is set for 7:35 p.m.

Notre Dame hockey fans can follow the action of Irish hockey this season live on the Internet at www.und.com. All 34 regular season games are scheduled to be broadcast live via WDND 1580 ESPN’s Sportscenter in South Bend with Mike Lockert returning for his third season behind the microphone. Those games will also be aired on the Notre Dame website for fans who subscribe to College Sports Pass. The College Sports Pass is available for $6.95 per month or $49.95 for the entire year and gives the subscriber access to all Notre Dame sports that are broadcast during the year, as well as, all teams in the network.

Fans can also follow the action of Notre Dame hockey via College Sports Online’s new GameTracker feature that is available free for all sports scored live during the season. All you do is click on the GameTracker button under each scheduled event.

The opening series versus the Bulldogs continues on Friday, Oct. 8th at 7:35 p.m. Notre Dame is coming off its first-ever NCAA appearance in 2003-04 as the Irish were 20-15-4 on the year. The Irish lost in the NCAA Midwest Regional to third-ranked Minnesota, 5-2. Notre Dame finished the year ranked 12th in the nation.

Minnesota-Duluth was 28-13-4 a year ago and advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four, losing in the semi-finals to eventual champion, Denver. The Bulldogs are ranked fourth in the preseason polls and were selected as the preseason favorites to win the WCHA this year.
