The Notre Dame baseball team’s doubleheader versus Villanova scheduled for Sunday, April 24, has been postponed due to weather conditions. The teams now will try to play a Monday doubleheader (April 25) starting at 9:30 a.m., with the first game to be seven innings followed by a nine-inning game.

Notre Dame’s first starter is slated to be sophomore righthander Dan Kapala while the third-game starter is TBA. Villanova will send freshman righthander Kevin Mulvey to the mound in the seven-inning game while sophomore righthander Mike Loree is the likely starter in the series finale.

Fans are reminded to utilize the Notre Dame sports hotline (574-631-3000, option 4 and then option 2) to check on any delay information that may pertain to Monday’s games.

BIG EAST leader St. John’s (11-3) lost its series finale on Sunday at 9th-place Seton Hall (5-11) while 2nd-place Boston College was on the verge of moving to 10-4, holding a 3-1 lead in the 6th inning of its second game on Sunday vs. 10th-place Georgetown (4-11, if score holds) after beating the Hoyas in the extra-inning opener (6-3, in 8; series finale on Monday).

Connecticut (6-8) moved into 6th place after Sunday’s 18-2 win at 4th-place Rutgers (8-7), with other records including Villanova’s 7-7 and 5-8 for idle Pittsburgh and West Virginia.
