Adam Norton Named To BIG EAST Honor Roll

April 1, 2013

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame senior RHP Adam Norton was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. He was previously chosen for the honor roll on March 18 and was named conference pitcher of the week on March 4.

Norton (Highland, Ind./Andrean) was outstanding once again despite not factoring in the decision at No. 10 Louisville on March 29. He limited the Cardinals to one earned run on five hits in 8.0 innings. The only run he surrendered came following a leadoff walk in the top of the first inning. Norton struck out three. He retired the last seven batters he faced in the contest.

Norton, who has collected six quality starts in seven outings, is 6-0 on the year with a sparkling 1.39 ERA. He was the first Irish pitcher to pick up a victory in each of his first six starts to open a season since Aaron Heilman in 2001.

Norton has a pair of victories over top-25 opponents this season. He did not allow a single run in 17.0 innings of work against No. 25 Virginia Tech and No. 20 Cal Poly.

Norton leads the BIG EAST in victories and fewest walks (six). He also ranks third in ERA, third in innings pitched (51.2), third in runs allowed (eight) and sixth in earned runs allowed (eight).

Notre Dame will open the true home schedule at 5:35 p.m. ET Tuesday, Apr. 2 when it plays host to UIC at Frank Eck Stadium. The Irish seven-game homestand will continue at 5:35 p.m. ET Wednesday, Apr. 3 against Valparaiso.
