Notre Dame, Ind. – Notre Dame women’s lacrosse midfielder, Abby Owen (Sr., Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.), has been named Inside Lacrosse Magazine’s player of the week for the week ending Feb. 29. The senior led Notre Dame to a pair of wins on their west coast trip at California and Stanford.
On the weekend, Owen scored seven goals, including two game winners as the Irish got off to a fast start on their season-opening road trip.
In Notre Dame’s 12-11 overtime win versus the California Golden Bears, Owen scored three goals, including two in overtime with the second being the game winner, to give the Irish the opening-day victory. The three-goal game equaled Owen’s career-high for goals in a game.
Two days later, at 15th-ranked Stanford, Owen scored a career-high four goals to help lead the Irish to a 16-5 win over the Cardinal. Owen scored twice in the first half as Notre Dame built an 8-3 lead. She added two more goals in the second half for the 16-5 win.
