NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Savannah Buchanan and Samantha Lynch each netted hat tricks, but #4 Notre Dame fell to sixth-ranked Northwestern, 15-11, Saturday night at Arlotta Stadium.
The Irish close the regular season with a 13-3 record (5-2 ACC), which matches the 2012 and 2006 Irish squads for the best regular season record in program history.
Notre Dame enter next week’s ACC Championship as the #3 seed. They will take on sixth-seeded Duke on Wednesday, April 24th at 8 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
Andie Aldave also scored twice for the Irish while posting a team-high six draw controls. Erin McBride, Maddie Howe and Madison Mote also netted goals for Notre Dame.
Buchanan and Hannah Proctor each caused a game-high four turnovers while Lynch caused three turnovers and Diana Kelly caused a pair. Buchanan also added three draw controls.
As a team, the Irish earned a 21-13 advantage in ground balls over Northwestern.
Senior Samantha Giacolone stopped seven shots in goal for the Irish.
