Match Notes:South Carolina, 20th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, improves its record to 16-11 on the season and faces the winner of the Notre Dame/UIC match in the second round on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. … Western Michigan is ranked No. 67 in the country and finishes the season with a 19-7 record, their most wins since a 21-6 season in 1990 … the order of finish was No. 4, 3, 1, 5, 2, 6 in singles … Western Michigan had won 10 consecutive matches before today’s loss … Sutton needed just 59 minutes to give South Carolina a 1-0 lead … Radman played just her third career match at No. 1 singles and her first since Feb. 24 … she is now 3-0 at No. 1 singles … Tan rallied from a break of serve down at 3-4 in the second set to win the final three games of the match … Brown was playing in her first singles match since Feb. 24 … Brown won five consecutive games in the second set from 1-2 to 6-2 and five straight in the third set from 1-3 to win the clinching match … Malik’s win was the 170th of her career, moving her into a tie for eighth place on the Broncos’ all-time singles and doubles wins list.
