Yu Heads To Camp With U-23 Women's National Team

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame women’s soccer senior Sandra Yu will join the United States U-23 Women’s National Team in camp beginning this week, traveling to Portland, Oregon, March 23-April 1 as the team takes part in a four-team tournament with a trio of NWSL squads.

The U.S. will join the Portland Thorns, Houston Dash and Chicago Red Stars in the 2017 Thorns Spring Invitational at Providence Park. The U.S. will face Houston on March 26, Portland on March 29 and Chicago on April 1. The game against Portland will be streamed live at thornsfc.com.

Yu is joining the U-23 squad for the second time in the calendar year, having joined the squad in Charlottesville, Virginia, last April.

The Strongsville, Ohio, product has been a two-year starter for the Irish in the midfield, starting in all 41 of Notre Dame’s games in that span. She boasts five career goals and two assists for 12 points. The 2016 Irish captain will return to the program in 2017 for her final year of eligibility after missing her first two seasons with an injury.
