NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame women’s soccer midfielder Sandra Yu will join the United States U-23 Women’s National Team in Sweden beginning next week to compete in the 2017 U-23 Open Nordic Tournament.

The U.S. will face Norway (June 6), England (June 9) and Sweden (June 12) during the trip. Yu is one of 12 current collegiate players who will join the 22-player squad under acting coach B.J. Snow. The rising graduate student will join the U-23s for the second time this season, having participated in training camp in Portland, where the team competed in a four-team tournament with three NWSL teams from March 23-April 1.

The Strongsville, Ohio, product has been a two-year starter for the Irish in the midfield, starting in all 41 of Notre Dame’s games in that span. She boasts five career goals and two assists for 12 points. The 2016 Irish captain, who was also an All-ACC Third Team pick, will return to the program in 2017 for her final year of eligibility after missing her first two seasons with an injury.
