NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame men’s lacrosse junior attackman Mikey Wynne has earned Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors after the team’s 14-13 victory over No. 16 North Carolina on April 22. The award marks the first career ACC Offensive Player of the Week honor for Wynne.

Wynne led the team in goals in the win with a season-high five against the Tar Heels. The five goals mark a season high for the junior and is just one shy of his career record. Wynne was extremely efficient, as the five goals came on just seven shots.

The attackman leads the Irish in goals on the season with 23 and has 96 in his career. With four more goals Wynne will become just the eighth player in Notre Dame history to reach the 100-goal milestone, joining teammate Sergio Perkovic.

Earlier this season Wynne earned a number of other accolades. The Sykesville, Maryland, native was named to the 2017 Tewaaraton Award Watch List. Wynne also has received 2017 Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American (Honorable Mention) and Preseason All-ACC Team recognition.

The Irish travel to the state of North Carolina for the ACC Championship this weekend. Notre Dame will play Duke in the second semifinal at 8:30 p.m. ET on Friday, April 28 at Koskinen Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
